DNR (Dept. of Natural Resources) has both Brown County State Park
and Yellowwood State Forest  and use the same annual permit.
Annual Horse Permits FEES available to purchase online at: estore.dnr.state.in.us Yellowwood has about 16 miles of riding trails and is only 3-4 miles from our cabin.  Brown County is huge and about 1/2 hr drive. Brown County Trail Map.

Hoosier Hat'l Forest http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/hoosier/index.htm
has several trail systems around Brown County area.

 1) Hickory Ridge Trails is the largest and very nice trails and is about 40 min drive to get to the trailhead parking area.  http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/hoosier/recreation/hickory_ridge.htm

2) Charles Deam/Wilderness West Area Trails are really nice too and a little closer,  maybe 1/2 hr to get there.  http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/hoosier/recreation/trail_rogs/deam_wilderness.pdf
We like both these places and you can download the trail maps online at the link above.  There's also a little bait shop called the Fishin' Shed on the way on Rt 446 south of Bloomington that sells the trail permits so we usually run out there the night before or on the way (if your trailer's not to big) to get our trail passes.  If you know what days you are going to ride at what places, you can order them ahead of time from the links above.
